Avoid Working 24 Hours a Day On Your Affiliate Marketing Business

We all know how important it is to work hard to get your home business up and running and off the ground. We also know that when your home business is located right in your home, it is all too easy to get a few extra hours of work in after you eat dinner, or to get up early to work a little bit more in the morning.

However, the fact remains that most of the people who are working at home businesses have decided to do this so that they can control what hours they work, and so that they can have more time to themselves to do the things that they have always wanted to do. If you find yourself working too much, and you know that you are in danger of working longer hours than you did at your old job, here are some ways to avoid becoming a 24-hour a day worker again.

Working hours

First and foremost, no matter what your business is, you need to have working hours. This is for your benefit. If you have an online site or an online store, you are going to be open 24 hours a day, but this doesn’t mean that you have to be at your computer for the entire day. You need to set hours for yourself, and these hours will have to include time to process whatever has come in while you aren’t working. There is a danger in sitting at your computer all day to take orders in the hopes of keeping up with them, because you will find that you never leave.

If you find that you have too much work, and not enough time, this means that you are taking on too much. You have to be sure that you are only working as much as you can handle to work, or that you are delegating tasks to make sure you aren’t having to work all day and all night. This is something that a lot of people fail to do, and it can be something that is very dangerous, because giving out tasks is the best way to make sure all of your work gets done.

If you find yourself with too much, you’ll end up working more than you want to be working, so be sure to find help, or hire some if you need it. Something else that you can be sure to do is to give yourself a break now and then. Remember that you don’t have to take every project that comes your way, and remember that you can be allowed a sick day when you are sick. These things are important, and are also vital to keeping your sanity as well as your business.

Attitude and Expectations

There are two key words that lead to success in life. These words control the successful outcome of your business, marriage, and many other areas of life. Although you may have incredible talent and skill in life, you will fail if you do not master these two words- and vice versa. Even if you have only limited talent and skill, you will win if you live by them. These two words determine your future. They are attitude and expectation.

If you have a positive, forward-looking attitude, you will accomplish great things. How is your attitude? Does it need an improvement? Are you positive and upbeat? If you have the attitude that every challenge or obstacle leads to new opportunity, success is all but guaranteed. Thomas Edison was said to have worked on creating the electric light bulb because darkness interfered with his ability to conduct further experiments. He wanted to be able to work long into the night. Edison could have moaned about the darkness, though that would not have done any good. He used his attitude and solved a problem of darkness. There are thousands of examples in life of how some people took lemons and, with a great attitude, made lemonade.

Start building your attitude today. Convince yourself that you are the best at what you do. You have to be convinced yourself before anyone else will be convinced. The attitude you bring when faced with objections in your business will help you handle them. The attitude that you take when you have a problem will make the difference as to its outcome.

One technique to improve your attitude is using affirmations. Affirmations drive positive mental pictures into your subconscious mind. Create affirmations like:

* I am a great _____ (you fill the blank).
* I am skilled at handling objections in my business.
* People do business with me because I am positive, knowledgeable, and professional.
* I earn__________(you fill the blank).
* I am a great spouse.

Use these affirmatives, or create your own, to improve your mental attitude daily.

The second power word is expectation. If you don’t expect to win, you will not win. Henry Ford said, “If you think you can or think you can’t, either way you are right.” Make sure to set the positive expectation of success before your appointment with a prospect or client. You also need to set a positive expectation before every call you make. Expectation is the gateway to confidence. The first step to having unshakeable confidence is to believe that you are the person for your job. If your expectation is strong enough, people will come around to your way of thinking. You just need to be stronger in will and mental focus than your clients, prospects, and others in your field. A perfect example is Henry Ford.

Many years ago, Ford went to his engineers and told them to build a V-8 engine. They said it could not be done. Ford plainly told them to go do it and report back in 90 days. When the 90 days were done, they reported back to Ford. They had spent the whole 90 days figuring out why a V-8 engine was impossible. In the meeting with Ford, they spent their time trying to convince him it could not be done; a V-8 engine was impossible and could never be created. Ford’s attitude and expectation of a V-8 engine was stronger than the engineers’ attitude and expectation that it could not be done. We all know who won in the end.

Your expectation will create your reality. You have to expect before you can receive. You need to expect the people and situations that will enable you to create the future you desire. Expectation does not mean you don’t have to work. You will work harder than before to develop the outcome you desire. The expectation takes away the fear of failure. Don’t be paralyzed by the fear of failure. Failure is a natural part of success. You cannot have success without failure. It’s truly a masterful design. You cannot have good without evil. The exhilaration of success would be lost without the frustration of failure. Most people forget their failures over time and only remember their victories. Take Babe Ruth as an example; he hit the most home runs of his time. He also had the most strikeouts. No one remembers that. . .only the home runs. . . the successes.

Set your attitude to positive. Look for the opportunities in every situation. Expect to win, every time.

Vince Lombardi had a famous saying:

“Winning is not a sometime thing; it’s an all time thing. You don’t have to win once in awhile; you don’t do things right once in awhile; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit; unfortunately, so is losing.”

Lombardi had the right attitude and the right expectations. He believed they would win, every time.

Business Coaching #1 - Small Steps Coaching

If you want to initiate change in your life, start small. This has long been been my personal philosophy, but one I found I had to defend when applying it to business. In business, people tend to want to think big, project big, a big logo - they present themselves big to imply that great results will follow. I took comfort in the Chinesse philosopher, Lao Tze’s wisdom: “If you want to be fast, go slow” and it all fell into place, as his solid explanation justified my approach.

It is understandable that people perceive their own problems as huge obstacles that can’t be overcome easily, otherwise they wouldn’t contact a coach for assistance. Clients often come to me and ask for some great miracle that will take away the great burden that they have. And it is only natural that a coach may sway with the clients’ perspective and indeed suggest great changes when listening and asking questions. However, a sudden big change can induce an avalanche of stress and confusion, emotional reactions start exploding like a newly awakened volcano, while the person is trying to pick up on the new challenges that these changes bring. To put it simply I’ll quote the famous proverb: “Be careful what you wish for, you may get it!”

Recently I worked with a client interested in changing their career, which would be a big change that they had been striving towards for a long time. Understandably, there was a dose of fear preventing them from moving forward. I generally believe that people can follow their dreams and money will come effortlessly, but suggesting such a jump to this client would mean working with a large fear factor and crossing many boundaries heading straight for the risk zone. Instead, the client created a financial plan and visualized their desired future in which they were ready to leave their current work and start with a new profession. The client is ready for the change when their confidence increases, in the meantime you ask yourself (and them) what is the smallest step that they could make to demonstrate that they are moving toward the desired future. Keep adding steps like polishing a sculpture before you are ready to show it to the world.

With changes taken in small steps we create a ripple effect: one after the other more changes follow and initiate the creation of lasting positive change. These changes may include changes of attitude, adjustment of beliefs, even something as simple as clearing your working space to create more clarity in how to manage your time and work efficiently.

As Insoo Kim Berg and Peter Szabo in “Brief Coaching for Lasting Solutions” say:

“Just having a map of where we want to go is the first step of a thousand-mile journey. Since the next step of carrying out the plan depends on the client, and not on the coach, the next phase of discussion must center on what the client needs to do to carry out which step first and what comes second, third, and so on.”

Enjoy the art of taking the small steps to inspiring change!

7 Tips To Help You Maintain Your Discipline While Working at Home

The good news about working for yourself is that you don’t have a boss breathing down your neck. The bad news about working for yourself is that you don’t have a boss breathing down your neck.

Working for yourself can be great, but it can also be frustrating, especially if you don’t feel that your self-discipline is in good working order. Self-employment gives you more flexibility to decide when you will go to work, what your priorities are, and when you need to take a break. But running your own business generally requires more self-discipline than you would need if you worked as an employee.

Thing is, self-discipline is critical. It is easy to get distracted or procrastinate. Family interruptions and our own resistance-especially when it comes to tasks that we don’t like doing but that still need doing-can get in the way of making steady progress. Without a boss and coworkers around to help keep you focused, it will be easy to spend too much time eating, sleeping, watching television, golfing, or even working. You must be disciplined.

Here are some initial suggestions to help you increase your work discipline:

1. Treat the business as a business. Simply having this attitude can easily eliminate many problems. When you treat yourself like a real business, others will too.

2. Keep office hours. A realistic daily schedule fosters discipline. For many loan officers, discipline means getting to the office by 9 a.m. and putting in a full day of work. Decide what your standard office hours will be and stick to them. Break an hour or so for lunch as you normally would, but treat it like work.

3. Make a daily task plan. Plan what you are going to do in the course of the day, and when you will accomplish each task. Consider making a rule that when you are done with the tasks on that day’s schedule, you are done for the day. This will help avoid workaholism or burnout.

4. Know your rhythm. Some of us are morning people, some are best in the afternoon, while others thrive at 3 AM. It is important to use your most productive time wisely. Determine your best times of day, and arrange your schedule according to those times as well as to the demands of your work-if you rock and roll at 3 AM, for example, there will be some tasks you can do then, and others (like calling a client) that won’t be practical.

5. Set rules for yourself. Decide the circumstances under which you will take time off to play, read or watch television, what interruptions you are willing to allow, and when you will do household chores.

6. Dress for work, even at home. Similarly, some folks find that it helps to dress nice. No suit required, but the casual Friday look, for example, might be appropriate.

7. Create “company policies.” In addition to setting rules for yourself, it is equally important to set policies so that family, friends, and business associates know what to expect from you and how to behave. For instance, you may find that your spouse or a neighbor expects you to do chores while they are at work. You may want to do this, or you may not. Either way, having policies that include this kind of thing makes such decisions easier.

Eliminate Stress with Some Not So Common Sense

There are several things people can do to mitigate the stress and strain that can happen in the work place. One needs to remind their self of the purpose. On those days when you have several meetings and all the rest of it, remember what the larger purpose is, and recommit yourself to that larger purpose. That in itself is protective.

Another thing you can do is to develop new skills. What can you refine that would make you feel that you’re doing a better job everyday. Some of those skills can be computer skills, public speaking skills, management skills, things that would make you feel more of a master of some of the everyday challenges that you are feeling. One of the biggest sources of stress relief can be connection to other people. One of your greatest resources is allowing other people to help you and to reach out and help other people, as well just to get to know them and connect with them. Make work be a human experience as well as a task experience.

Thriving in Work and Life

Response to change and proactively managing your life and work is an inside and out job. How often have you noticed the energy level of people who know what they want and what they are willing to give up in order to get it? The world seems to clear a path just for them. We can clear our own paths by focusing on what is truly important in our lives. Bit by bit, we can make those lives as full as our calendars. But it does take resolve and dedication.

Some of the disciplines to place on our workout rotation would be the following 4 items:

1. Protect your time. Now, more than ever, we need superior time management skills and habits to maintain personal space and decrease stress.

2. Make learning a life habit. Learn a new skill at a regular interval. Not only does it expand your options both at work and in your home life, but it engages you in new ways with the world and with your own capabilities. And greater economy will result.

3. Be a great listener. Instead of reacting in debate mode when a disagreement arises, ask that person what experience has led them to their point of view. Learning how to really listen well will help us to re examine our own convictions, to be open to new ideas, and to relate better with our colleagues and family members.

4. Nurture positive relationships. With coworkers, leaders and family, our sense of connectedness can be our greatest source of strength. Finding common ground can be an uncommon asset.

Lastly, it is important to be in top condition, physically, emotionally, and mentally. Keeping ourselves toned will allow health and vitality to enhance every aspect of our lives with positive, energetic action.

Cash Wealth Building System

Sometimes it seems like the world is divided into two types of people, those who have money and those who work for them.

Have you ever wondered what the rich have that you don’t? Are they smarter? Luckier? Do they work harder?

The answer is that they work less but their money works harder. In fact the truly wealthy have automatic wealth building systems in place.

But having a wealth building system isn’t all that seperates them from the rest of us. What sets them apart and helps them attract wealth day in and day out is their wealth mindset.

They truly believe that they deserve to be wealthy and they are confident in their knowledge that there is an abundance of wealth just waiting to be tapped into at a moment’s notice.

The good news is that this way of thinking is a learned behavior. This means that you can learn it, as well.

You see, over the years we build up ideas about money, wealth, work and a variety of other factors in our lives. Some of these beliefs are acquired from our parents and others from our own experiences.

Why Lottery Winners Lose it All

You have heard it time and again. Lottery Winners losing it all and trust fund babies wasting their parents’ hard earned cash. In fact, up to 80% of the lottery winners in this country file bankruptcy within five years. Most of us say,” That would never happen to me. You would have to be really dumb to lose all that money.” Yet the very reason that these individuals let their money run through their fingers is the very reason that most of us are still working pay check to paycheck.

It is a lacking mindset that is responsible for our financial difficulties. Those with money that work their way up from the bottom or build the wealth they have easily, have the one thing that most of us lack - a million dollar mind set. All wealth begins with it and all wealth is maintained by cultivating this feeling of prosperity.

I would bet that most of us could compile a list of hundreds of things that we want. That sense of wanting means that we feel that we do not have these things. When we replace this wanting feeling with the sense of already having wealth, amazing things start to occur within our brains. We begin to come up with ways of having wealth instead of merely wishing and wanting it.

How do we create this million dollar mindset?

1) Think about being wealthy and write down any thoughts that come up.

Write down the objections that already play in your mind. Write down the excuses like. Ex. It takes money to make money. And write down all the things that you wish you could have if only…

2) Release on those thoughts. Let them go and keep letting them go until the negative emotions go away with them.

3) Replace negative thoughts with positive ones.

4) Fill your mind with the images of what you want and picture yourself already having them.

5) See yourself as you will be. Feel what you will feel. Add audio and even the things that you will smell when you reach that state. ex. the type of perfume you might wear, the sound of bankers begging to give you loans, the feel of silk upon your skin, etc…

6) Keep releasing your negative emotions and thoughts until you have what you have been wanting all these years.

7) Act upon the incredible ideas that your subconscious shares with you fearlessly.

Once that limiting belief grabs hold, it affects every action you take and every action that you hesitate to take. So the second half of the answer is that you need to let these limiting wealth beliefs go and replace them with positive abundant beliefs.

You need to truly understand that money is meant to work for you and not the other way around.

Overcoming negative thought patterns is not as difficult as it may seem. The way to step away from paychecks and into the realm of the wealthy starts with examining your thinking so that you can understand why you have made the choices about money that you have made in the past and change those choices in the future.

The Advantages of Being a Work at Home Mom

Working from home is a modern day phenomenon! The sector of the population most impacted by this movement is, believe it or not, the children! That’s because working from home makes it possible for a mother to be a full time mother, but also earn needed income for the family. Being a work at home mom can be challenging, but there are many advantages to this form of employment.

As we look at the advantages of being a work at home mom, sometimes shorted to “wahm,” the first thing to think about is the family. Many child development studies have found that children who are able to stay home with their mothers are more secure and better behaved than children who spend hours every day in a daycare facility. Mothers are happier, too, when they don’t have to have a big separation scene every morning.

It’s true that work at home jobs sometimes don’t pay as much as those on the outside. But look how much money is saved by not having to go out to work. There is generally less wear and tear on the car, and less gas used. There is less demand for a good-looking wardrobe for mom, less make-up, and fewer trips to the beauty parlor. On top of all this is the absence of a big weekly daycare bill! Working outside the home carries a price tag.

Not only does working outside the home cost a mother in money, but it also costs in time. Working from home means the end of the time-consuming commute to work, especially if you get caught in traffic jams. The commute to work takes about 30 seconds for a work-at-home mom, and if she needs to do something at home, such as check on a child or stir the stew, she’s already there.

Mothers naturally want to be with their children when the little one reaches those important firsts, such as that first word or the first step. By working at home, Mom can be the one to rejoice with her little child, instead of a (possibly) indifferent babysitter. She can also be the one to keep an eye on the little one when he is sick. If a school-aged child needs something, she is right there were she can deliver it.

Working from home has other advantages. For one thing, the commute to work can be dangerous as well as exhausting. The more you’re on the road, the more likely you are to be involved in an auto accident. You’re not on the road much when you work from home.

Also, sometimes managers and bosses are not very nice people to work for! Sometimes coworkers are hard to take, too. Having a work at home situation keeps you away from the employers and the coworkers. True, you might still have a few clients or bosses who are hard to deal with. If that happens, you can just turn the computer off for a few hours! Through the wonders of the Internet, you can be working for someone on the other side of the world from you. It’s hard for them to breathe down your neck from another continent!
